The pace of technological change in the navigation and communications industries is such that you need to be a specialist, or have the help of one, to keep up and to make the most of the opportunities that the technology presents.
CBIL is that specialist. We stay abreast of developments and provide leading edge Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), inertial measurement and timing system solutions for precise positioning, navigation, surveying and timing, that are highly reliable and robust. We address land, sea, air and space applications.
We are also leaders in GNSS Radio Frequency (RF) simulation test strategies and certification, helping clients to simulate GNSS signals in their own test centres where they can recreate the true multi-satellite, multi-constellation, multi-frequency environment and run highly accurate ‘What if?’ experiments.
We are distributors for the world’s leading GNSS and inertial equipment manufacturers, and are closely involved in their product development programs, to the point that our experience of system design can influence the features that are built into new products.
The partnership philosophy is important to our client relationships, too. Although we can, and do, supply Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) products, we don’t just sell boxes. We work with you to understand your issues and needs, and where necessary tailor a bespoke solution exclusively to you. Whether yours is a start-up requirement or you need to integrate new facilities into an existing system, CBIL will give you impartial advice and an efficient and cost-effective solution.
Where necessary, we’ll also provide training and context presentations to ensure that everyone in your organisation understands why the equipment is there and how to get the best out of it.
The amount of repeat business we receive is testament to our dedication to customer support, from specification stage to after-sales.
Many of our clients are blue chip organisations, including:

CBIL was founded by Colin Beatty as a GNSS consultancy providing bespoke solutions to navigation and survey customers. As the company’s knowledge, reputation and size have grown, it has moved into product distribution, representing some of the leading manufacturer's in the GNSS industry.
Colin was invited to join Ashtech Inc to help set up Ashtech Europe Ltd, in which he was initially Director of Navigation Products and, latterly, General Manager.
Colin returned to run CBIL. When Ashtech’s founder, Dr Javad Ashjaee, created a new venture, Colin saw the potential in the very latest technology and became a distributor for JAVAD Positioning Systems, Inc, now known as JAVAD GNSS, Inc.
CBIL expanded its technologies portfolio when it was invited by industry leader, Spirent Communications (SW) Ltd, to become their UK and Ireland distributor for its GNSS RF simulator products.
The company started to distribute inertial measurement equipment developed by iMAR, based in Germany.
CBIL further continued its growth by taking on distribution of precision timing systems for Lange Electronics, who are also based in Germany.
We also signed distribution agreements with Spectratime to handle their precision frequency standards, and Cambridge RF Systems (RF spectrum analysers)
CBIL is a privately run and funded company whose growth over the past ten years has been continuous and profitable.
